St Philothei
Patron Saint of the Greek Welfare Centre in S.A.

St. Philothei was born in Athens in 1522 during the Turkish occupation. Among other things she founded schools, protected women from abductions, cared for the poor and the sick and was ultimately martyred for her faith. The name Philothei means friend of God. Her feast day is celebrated on 19th of Februrary.
