Arts & Crafts Social Group
September 30, 2020During the past year, over 2,100 clients have received a service from the Greek Welfare Centre as part of our Community and Home Support Programs. In addition to the domestic assistance (cleaning services) and home maintenance (gardening and home repair services), which help our senior citizen clients maintain their independence whilst comfortable in their own homes, many of our clients participate in our various social support group activities.
These programs have proven to be extremely popular and beneficial in helping our clients maintain their physical and mental health, especially since many of our older clients were isolated for many months as a result of COVID restrictions earlier this year. One of the group social activities held by the Greek Welfare Centre is the Arts & Crafts Group, run with volunteers at the centre in Torrensville, just a few kilometers west of the Adelaide CBD on Henley Beach Road.
The regularly held Art & Craft sessions continue to be a very popular program, engaging our clients in a safe and friendly environment, providing social interaction and mind stimulation – a subtle way to maintain dexterity and overall health and wellbeing.
The μεζεδακια (finger food type snacks) and καφεδάκια (Greek coffees) help to make the activities more social.
Our attendees eagerly await the next group activity, making their attendance a cherished part of their weekly routine.
