Volunteer meal delivery drivers needed

Volunteer drivers needed

January 31, 2021

The Greek Meals Service strives to satisfy the dietary needs of each of its clients whilst simultaneously invoking the memory of the motherland through lovely tastes and smells, and introducing the famous Greek cuisine to anyone who would like healthy and delicious food.

Each weekday, freshly cooked meals are delivered to homes across Adelaide by volunteers, helping clients to receive quality nutrition, whilst maintaining their independence at home.

Volunteering is a rewarding experience

From our volunteers… ‘It is better to give than to receive’

“Knowing that we, the volunteers, are sometimes the only people the clients see all day makes me want to keep volunteering my time – 2 hours of my time each week is such a small commitment. The truth is, it not only makes them happy, it makes me happy.”

“When I started volunteering, I thought I was just delivering meals, but in reality, it’s so much more! The clients really enjoy seeing me every week. They tell me about their family and show me photos of them. Just recently, a lady pulled out very old photos of her childhood sweetheart who was to later become her husband. Her eyes lit up just looking at the photo, He was very handsome and looked like Cary Grant! Lucky lady! I love that the clients share their life stories with me.”
