Carers News

December 18, 2017

Carers come in all shapes and sizes; young and old, knowing and unknowing!

The caring role is often very demanding affecting a Carer both emotionally and physically.

Carers often have the lowest wellbeing as they ignore their own health.

  • They are 40% more likely to suffer from chronic illness and health issues such as back problems, anxiety and depression are directly linked to their caring role.
  • Carers are socially isolated and chronically tired leading to anger, guilt, grief and stress. These can then lead to conflicts within relationships and frustrations amongst family members.

The GWC facilitates a Carers group with significant advantageous outcomes. Social interaction, a well-earned break, sharing of experiences, an opportunity to seek help, a time for learning and all within a culturally and linguistically Greek specific environment has created an ideal beneficial platform for the Carers. Periodic outings also gives them the opportunity to have fun and take care of their own wellbeing.
